Ice Off Practice on Strawberry

Springtime and especially the time just after the ice leaves our reservoirs in northern and central Utah is just right for targeting hungry trout.  I invited my brother, Dave, to join me to welcome in the new ice less season on Strawberry and “practice” for a special trip two day away.

Johnny Miller and his son, Todd, were going to join me on Thursday of last week and try to catch springtime cutthroats within a week or two of “ice off.” In order to prepare, Dave and I made a run to Strawberry on Tuesday morning to try an find some fish as preparation for the Miller excursion.

We made a video of our efforts on Tuesday and the link is below.  I apologize in advance for some of the editing (I am using a new editing software and am still a little uncomfortable with a few of the processes).  However, in the videso you will see that we found fish on points, threw Pointer 128 Minnows to them and even got a bite or two on white and green 1/4-ounce tube jigs tipped with pieces of night crawlers.

Enjoy!
